Your applied supposition in the form of a question is faulty. I'm not Russian, but the way I know it, it's only a slightly longer type of shirt, designed by its tailoring to worn on the outside of the pants. It was part of the traditional dress of the common populace in Russia for centuries. Peasants, soldiers etc. worn it. Its Russian name phonetically is gimnastyorka [geem-nah-stjor-kah].

No problem. I came across this site because I adore Russian culture, and am teaching myself how to play the balalaika. I got sidetracked, when I read the comment about Scotland being boring. As far as being a Yank, I am afraid I fall into a group of primarily liberal, middle class, educated Americans who always threaten to move to Canada because of current political situation, but never actually do.

Yes it's a tough call to leave one's own country. Beside it's impossible for others to accomodate all those people, who get fed-up with the militaristic and imperialistic policies of the US, which has culminated into an unbearable crescendo since 9/11. The US meant so much more to the world, beside being a military power to reckon with. Sorry that my mind wondered away. I wish you well.
