This video, originally titled "Culture en Péril (Version Longue)", was created by a few Québec artists to denounce the cuts in cultural funding by the Conservative governement, led by Stephen Harper. This extended version of the original includes english subtitles.
When Beau Dommage's Michel Rivard visits a newly formed governmental committee overseeing cultural financing, language gaps and cultural misunderstandings abounds, mostly when Rivard plays his classical song, "La Complainte du Phoque en Alaska" (The Complaint of the Seal in Alaska)...

Every year for the past 35, Quebec has had a negative migration rate - which means more people leave Quebec for other provinces than come in.
Am I going to fast for you?
Overall, way more people come in Québec than people leave it.

Donné nous le droit de refusé une subvention a un artiste que sa fait 10 ans que personne va voir. Apres on aura pu besoin d'Argent pour aucun artiste. Si un artiste est pas rentable ET SURTOUT apres 2 ans+ POURQUOI le subventionné ? Pourquoi ERIC LAPOINTE, FRANCE D'AMOUR , DENIS DROLET , Sont toujours subventionné mais ne peuve remplir un petit theatre ? ou encore sont pas rentable ?
