Just because something is culture does NOT make it ok. Cultural relativism DOES NOT WORK. It makes no sense and defending a practice, whatever it may be, by saying that it is "culture" means nothing. Culture is not a defense or excuse to do anything. All culture is, is the past INVADING the present with OLD ideas and OLD assumptions and OLD beliefs. Culture is not something to be embraced, culture is something to be cast off, like old dead skin.

Its not an arrogance thing or a superiority thing. This is quite cut and dry actually unlike many controversial cultural practices. This is the ABUSE of a child. NO child should be used in any ritual I don't care what it is. Simple as that. That goes for ANY culture. What makes it primitive and outdated is the belief that is connected to the ritual. gods and goddesses.......come on. It is the remnant of a time when people didn't know any better. I'm nepalese and belong to the land of a god where KUMARI, the living godess belong, and they are often worshiped by President, Prime-minister and King...ex king now.......but anyway u got the point. Hes wrong on basically everything he says! and hes pronouncing THINGS WRONG!!!
Plus this only happens to the Royal Kumari, and so far all the other Royal Kumaris that are of a proper age have been married.
They also do not live in poverty they are paid around 80 U.S. which is more than the average income over there.
