It's experiential. The song is sung from a point of view regarding the yearning for ones 'innocence' -- the simpler 'yesterday' we all long for...
Maybe you don't like the style of music 'Karen' is remembering (sha-la-la's, etc.) but, pray tell, what's to hate?
You just don't 'hate' one of the greatest voices of our time -- regardless of WHAT she's singing!
