2008 SEMA: Mustang FR500CJ Cobra Jet

DEARBORN, Michigan — The Ford Motor Company is moving closer to release of the Mustang FR500CJ Cobra Jet, a limited-edition racing car inspired by the original 1968 Cobra Jet Mustang.
New video shows the car testing at Michigan's Milan Dragway. Ford also released a new image of the FR500CJ, which is essentially a factory-built NHRA-legal drag racer.
Ford plans to build a limited run of 50 units in December, with deliveries in February 2009. Pricing is expected to start at $69,990.

How is it a dud if it runs 10s from the factory? Obviously you could port the blower and get much more power out of it, and or build up the motor. 400hp, and running 10s just shows you the potential of this car..

They we could ask why not just use the Ford GT since it make a hell of a lot better use of that type of motor.
Anyways, that GT style modular motor and 6 speed tranny contribute to the bloating of the GT500, so putting it there wouldn't be that good of an idea if its suppose to be fast from the factory.

they need to take the dreag kit offa the Cobra Jet (which i still like) and throw onto the 2010 GT500 5.4 that has 520 HP. I think they WANT people to do the upgrades themselves lol

Only a pussy with too much money would buy that instead of building up a mustang themselves. While that would be sweet to see it doing a 10 sec 1/4 mile...I just wouldn't have respect for the person who bought it.
I'd love to see a Mustang one day that weighs exactly the same as the fatass that bought it....but YOU FAIL AT MATH MOODY.

300lb car would only need like 180hp to run 10's XD

That much power with a supercharged 5.4 V8 engine is shit. The Ford BF GT in Australia, uses the same engine without the supercharger, and makes the same power as this Mustang.

man, wtf is the big deal, the guy obviously made a mistake and meant 330lbs. lighter or it only weighs 3300lbs....either way, i am sure there is still weight to be taken out of it, and some other mods and i bet it can be in the 9's. this is truly awesome of ford to offer something like this!!!!
